Gor Mahia and Kenyan international keeper Boniface Oluoch has given his side of the story over claims that he had a physical confrontation with head Coach Frank Nuttall, leading to a head butt, during yesterday’s 2-1 loss to CNAPS in the CAF Champions League preliminaries at Nyayo,Nairobi.
The much publicized incident is said to have happened at half time in the changing room.
“There’s nothing personal between me and the Coach (Nuttall), whatever happened was strictly football related. Tempers were high in the dressing room, both me and the Coach, but there’s nothing much.” Bonny told Radio Jambo on phone.
Gor conceded early in the 15th minute against the Islanders, a goal the Coach thought was cheap, and the keeper should have done batter to deal with it.
Nuttall is said to have confronted the keeper about it, but Bonny didn’t take it kindly, instead he accused the coach of poor player fielding, and not knowing his job.
“It’s not true Nuttall slapped Bonny, but yes Bonny head butted him and pushed him, and were it not for fellow players intervening it would have been very bad; I was there and I saw it all,” a source told Soka25east.com.
The bad blood between the two is an open secret and the reigning KPL keeper of the year is reported to be openly rude to the Scotsman.
“This is the second time, last year in Mombasa when Gor faced Bandari in the KPL second leg, the same happened.” The source added.
Assistant Coach Frank Ouna has however dispelled the claims saying, nothing like that happened on Saturday.
“There was no fight whatsoever in the dressing room. Normal fierce we have had especially when we are losing.” Ouna said.
