The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Appeals Committee will next week Monday June 6, 2016 have its first sitting to hear and determine appeals by both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.
The two Kenyan Premier League (KPL) sides were deducted three points each by the Independent Disciplinary and Complaints Committee (IDCC) for crowd trouble.
“As mentioned earlier we received appeals from both the two clubs and forwarded them to the Appeals Committee,” said FKF CEO Robert Muthomi.
“The committee has since informed us that it will have its first sitting on Monday next week to determine the issue,” added the FKF CEO.
The KPL disciplinary body found Gor Mahia guilty of failing to control its fans and supporters during a league match against Tusker F.C played on April 16, 2016.
Leopards on the other hand were found guilty of allowing their fans and stewards access to the pitch, an action that caused chaos and consequent abandonment of the match against Ulinzi Stars on April 23 in Mumias.
Both clubs contested the punishments with K’Ogalo specifically stating that Tusker were the home team and thus should have provided enough security as per KPL’s requirement.
They further argue that unlike Leopards, their match ended and Tusker won.
If successful, Gor Mahia will return to the top of the league from current fourth position with twenty nine points same as Tusker FC.
Ingwe on the other hand would climb to sixth on the log.
