Gor Mahia midfielder Humphrey Mieno has completed his move to Ethiopia’s Saint George Sports Club reliable sources have intimated to www.soka25east.com.
The midfielder, who sat out of Gor’s 2-1 win over New Stars de Douala of Cameroon in the Caf Confederation Cup playoff at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, has signed a two-year contract with the Addis Ababa-based club.
The former Sofapaka, AFC Leopards and Tusker player’s International Transfer Certificate is said to have been issued on Monday, the transfer deadline day in Ethiopia.
While there, the Kenyan international will link up with compatriot Patrick Matasi, who joined the club from Tusker in October last year, and former Ingwe coach Englishman Stewart Hall who coached him over two spells at Sofapaka in Kenya and Azam in Tanzania.
Gor coach Hassan Oktay had on Saturday blessed the player’s move.
“He called me and told me he wants a new challenge, I informed him to negotiate with the club and wished him good luck,” Oktay told journalists at Kasarani.
His departure leaves Oktay with Francis Kahata, Bernard Ondiek and Kenneth Muguna as his creative options in his midfield.
