Kenyan giants Gor Mahia have confirmed participation in inaugural Startimes International Cup slated for Tanzania from 16th to 23rd December 2016.

The tournament is sponsored by pay television company “StarTimes.”

“The deadline for confirmation was today (Monday 28), and we wrote to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) committing to participate,” Ronald Ngala, Gor Mahia acting Secretary General told Soka25east.com.

Ngala added, “We informed coach Ze Maria about the tournament, but he may not travel with the team because he already had other commitments over the period, however, he promised to give his final word on his availability.”

The Brazilian is on holiday after completion of the 2016 Kenyan premier league season where he guided the 15-time champions to a second place finish behind Tusker FC.

Uganda champions KCCA have also confirmed participation in the tournament – viewed from some quarters as future replacement of struggling CECAFA Kagame Cup.

DR Congo heavyweights and the reigning CAF Confederations champions TP Mazembe, APR of Rwanda, Liga Desportiva of Mozambique and Burundi’s Vital’O are the other teams expected to grace the competition.
