One time Gor Mahia top June tranfer window target Laudit Mavugo could land at Simba SC of Tanzania.
K’Ogalo gave up the chase for the highly rated Vital’O and Burundi Swallows striker due to a prohibitive prize tag placed on him by Benjamin Bikorimana, the president of the Burundi Champions, who value him at USD 100,000.
Coach Ze Maria’s side have since brought back Rwandan Meddie Kagere, closing the Mavugo chapter at least for now.
Reports from Tanzania indicate that Simba, who have lived in the shadows of arch rivals Yanga for sometime now, have placed an offer of USD 50,000 for Mavugo whom they have wanted to bring home since a season ago.
However, it is believed Bikorimana is still playing hard ball, holding on to his most prized asset and not letting go just yet.
Speaking to Soka25east.com after helping Vital’O to a silver medal in the President Cup at Sosumo Stadium on Saturday, Mavugo admitted he wants to leave for greener pastures.
“I just want to leave Burundi and go pursue professional football, it’s my dream.” Mavugo said.
The 23 years old former Kiyovu, AS Kigali and Police FC forward has had an enviable two seasons with Vital’O helping them to back to back league titles, while scoring over 60 goals during the period.
On Saturday he converted a penalty as the Bujumbura heavyweights lost 4-3 on penalty to Messenger Ngozi FC in the President Cup final.
