Gor Mahia stand in Coach Frank Ouna has called it a day with the 15-time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Champions just hours after leading his charges to a 2-2 draw against City Stars in a Kenyan premier league match played at the Nyayo Stadium.
Confirming the development, the club’s Secretary General Ronald Ngala said that Ouna, who had been charged with handling the team after the departure of Frank Nuttall, presented his resignation letter just after the City Stars game.
“Yes, we can acknowledge that Frank Ouna has resigned from the Gor Mahia’s technical bench . He has informed the board about his decision and we already have his letter of resignation which he delivered soon after the City Stars game,” Ngala told Soka25east.com
Ngala said he was shocked with the decision and was sad to see Ouna leave but thanked him for his services during his time with the club.
“I am actually shocked by the decision because I didn’t see it coming. He has been a good servant during his time here and he leaves with our blessings,” Ngala said.
New Gor Mahia’s Head Coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira is expected to have a new technical bench when he is unveiled as Gor Mahia Head Coach in the next week.
Grapevine was rife that Ouna would follow the steps of coach Nuttal after he realized his position as assistant coach was nolonger tenable after his boss took left in a huff.
Ouna had hinted on his facebook page he would be leaving immediately he got information the head coach had left.He now settle down as Team manager and second assistant coach of the Kenyan national team Harambee Stars
