Kenyan Premier League runners up Ulinzi Stars is in the Coastal town of Mombasa ahead of their match against Bandari FC in the quarters of Kenya Cup (GOTV Shield) on Saturday 7 at the Mombasa Municipal Stadium.
The Soldiers from the Rift Valley touched down at Moi International Airport this afternoon in high spirits and ready to advance their chances of lifting a silverware this season.
“We are well prepared and we have our eyes set on the prize which is getting a ticket to the semis. It is going to be a tough match but we are also an equally a tough side.” Officer in charge Major Joe Birgen told the club’s official portal.
The two KPL sides will be meeting for the third time this season with Ulinzi enjoying a slight advantage over the dockers whom they beat once in the league. Their last meeting was a barren draw at the Afraha Stadium on the final day of the league less than a week ago.
Ulinzi exited the competition at the same stage last year falling to Tusker FC on post match penalties something they would not want a repeat of this time.
In another match of the day, FKF-PL side Nzoia Sugar FC hosts KPL side Muhoroni Youth at Kisumu Stadium.
