Copper Queens striker Grace Chanda scored a history making hat-trick in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, helping her side, BIIK-Kazygurt to a 5-1 win over Split in Croatia.
Chanda scored in the 18th, 49th and 64th minute in what will go down as a historic hat-trick from the Zambian footballer.
“What a special night for me! I am very happy to have scored a hat-trick but even more pleased that I helped my team to a 5-1 win over ZNK Split in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
“Credit goes to all my teammates, the coaches and most importantly the fans here, in Zambia and everywhere around. Our focus is already on the next game,” she said after the game.
The 25-year old striker continues to enjoy great form for both club and country in recent months. Chanda captained the Copper Queens to a bronze medal finish at the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in the absence of inspirational Barbara Banda.
Chanda was also among the three final nominees for the Women’s African Footballer of the year where she narrowlly missed out to Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala.
