By Michael Kijana,
Corruption scandals have rocked Kenyan premier league 2013 champions Gor Mahia in a scale never unprecedented as officials resort to accusations and counter accusation regarding gate collecting which have been disappearing leading to panic from the very passionate and committed fans.
A close source who spoke to Soka25east.com intimated that the newly elected officials some of who took huge loans to to service their campaigns have now gone on an over drive to to ensure they make money to re-coop whatever they used during the campaigns wooing the voters.
The scandals were first witnessed during the first Gor Mahia game against City Stars at the City Stadium where the same officials are reportedly to have organised for the gates to be broken since they printed tickets but failed to present the same to the City Stadium management for registration hence once the tickets were over fans streamed into the stadium in droves leading to massive losses.
“A click has been formed in the name of marketing Gor Mahia but their purpose is to ensure they make as much money as they can to recuperate from the daunting elections where they used so much money. This same people caused a crisis at City Stadium when they printed tickets but failed to register them with City Stadium leading to fans breaking the gates to gain access and we know very well this was a well planned move”The source who sort anonymity told Soka25east.com.
The biggest scandal to also be unveiled involved the Saturday match between Gor Mahia who were playing Esperance of Tunis.
The said group who have continually been mentioned printed tickets and went further to open up a bank account at Diamond Trust bank that even the chairman Ambrose Rachier was not a signatory. They presented the tickets which were haphazardly arranged to the Gor Mahia commitee and gave blank forms for the officials led by former Migori Mp John Pesa to sign but the former member of parliament declined insisting that the tickets had to be counted.
The group that presented the tickets had alluded to the fact that they were not able to print 20,000 tickets adding that they managed to only print 13,000 tickets for the terraces and 800 for the Vip’s .However upon insistence that the tickets be counted it was realized that the tickets were more than the number declared with 2500 Vip tickets and over 20,000 tickets for the terraces further adding to the worries that the same group was up to swindle the rest of the money realised during the match no wander they never wanted them printed.
The group has now resorted to facebook attacks on other officials while it is clearly known that their intentions are clouded in mystery.
Gor Mahia is one of the most succesful clubs in Kenya many have been wondering why the team with so many supporters who work hard to attend to both home and away matches has financial issues despite being the club with the highest gate collection which is mostly mis -appropriated.
With the withdrawal of Tuzo as the title sponsor it remains to be seen how the Mighty Kogalo will handle its affairs as the money realised in gate collection is what is supposed to be used to help in day to day operations and paying of salaries .
Gor Mahia campaigns has been said to be an extremely expensive affair but the problem is that the same people only realize that upon being elected their are no monetary gains leading them to scheme on how to refund their money used by fleecing the gate collections leading to losses at the famous club.
