Guinea Bissau’s captain, Bocundji Ca looks set to miss the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Brave Warriors of Namibia scheduled for National Stadium in Bissau on June 10.
According to a source close to the technical bench of the national team Djrutus, Bocundji Ca will be for the second consecutive time out of the Baciro Cande’s squad after failing to play friendly aganist SouthAfrica’s national team Bafana Bafana.
Bocundji Ca is beleived recently underwent surgery and is currently recuperating in Portugal and is in a race against time to be fit.
The influential skipper also missed AFCON 2017 that was played in Gabon an omission that raised several negative comments about the non-use of the on form player in the biggest event of football in the continent.
The game against Namibia might have come too soon for a section of other international players who have suggested they might skip the June 10 game.
Bocundji Ca alongside few other contingent in Portugal, were not selected for the recent friendly against South Africa with Cande electing to allow them to concentrate on their league games, which were about to start then.
The Djrutus gaffer quashed rumours that he was dropping a section of European-based players from his team as he insisted the likes of Bocundji Ca and Tomas Dabo are in his future plans.
Guinea-Bissau is in Group K of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier alongside Zambia, Mozambique and Namibia.
