Guinea-Bissau exacted revenge after beating Zambia 2-1 in a CAF 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Group K match at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau on Sunday.

Guinea-Bissau suffered a 2-1 defeat to Zambia four days ago but got their sweet revenge in front of their home crowd.

Despite playing away from home Zambia dominated the early exchanges of the match and took the lead in the 13th minute courtesy of a strike from Justin Shonga, 1-0.

Guinea-Bissau, though, were not going to go down without a fight and started seeing more of the ball after going behind.

Still, irrespective of the home side having the lion’s share of possession they were unable to break through the Zambian defence and entered the half time break trailing by a goal.

The second half was a different affair altogether for Guinea-Bissau who drew level eight minutes after the restart thanks to a well-taken goal by Stoppila Sunzu, 1-1.

The home side continued to pile on the pressure and took the lead just after the hour mark courtesy of a goal from Toni Silva, 2-1.

Zambia tried to find their way back into the match, but Guinea-Bissau held on for their second win in qualifying.

The result sees Guinea-Bissau go top of Group K with seven points from four matches, three points above both Mozambique (in second place) and Namibia (in third place) who are in action Tuesday for their fourth-round match.

Namibia are last in Group K with four points, only behind Mozambique and Namibia on goal difference.
