Guinea’s football federation has fired coach Kanfory Bangoura after the national team lost their second match at the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).
Guinea Football Federation (FEGUIFOOT) president Antonio Souare said on Thursday on national radio that coach Bangoura had ”failed to impose himself as leader of the group” at the tournament.
Bangoura’s contract was set to expire at the end of the year, but Souare said the FEGUIFOOT decided to end it early because of the poor results at the Africa Championship.Guinea lost to Morocco and Sudan in Group A.
Souare said assistant coach Ibrahima Sory Toure would take charge for the last match against Mauritania in Marrakech on Sunday.
Bangoura was appointed in July 2016 and failed to help the team qualify for the 2017 African Nations Cup and the 2018 World Cup.
