Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the Guinea international is set to be sidelined for up to two months after sustaining an abductor injury in Liverpool’s 3-0 loss to Barcelona.
The 24-year-old midfielder had to leave the Camp Nou pitch after 24 minutes on Wednesday and further tests have now revealed the extent of his injury.
Keita will duly miss the club’s final two games of the English Premier League season, including the Uefa Champions semifinal second-leg clash at Anfield, and possible final in Madrid.
Subsequently, Keita is likely to play no part in Guinea’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Egypt.
The West African nation are drawn in Group B alongside Nigeria, Madagascar and Burundi.
Keita scored three goals in 33 appearances across all competitions for the Reds following his move from RB Leipzig ahead of the current campaign.
