The Disciplinary Committee Chairman of the Algeria Premier League (LPF), Hamid Haddadj, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
The legal practitioner tendered in his resignation letter in the late hours of Tuesday at the secretariat of the Algeria Football Federation (FAF) citing personal reasons.
“I decided to resign for personal reasons after I noted that as the chair of disciplinary committee I am not being consulted in making decisions that are taken by the Algerian Federation. I have preferred resign in the interest of this nation’s football, “said Hamid Haddadj as quoted by APS.
Haddadj who also served as the FAF president between January 2006 and February 2009, heavily criticized the local federation for not following laid rules and regulations made to ease running of the league.
“I cannot condone decisions that are contrary to the regulations. I take the example of the decision to allow new club signings to take part in round of 32 of Algerian Cup while the rules clearly indicate newly signed players are supposed to take part in the round of 16 of the competition, “added Haddadj.
Earlier this year, the distinguished lawyer had hinted that he would quit the position at the end of the season, but it was believed that the top brass of the FAF had succeeded in talking him out of that decision.
Haddadj is credited with improving the workings of the Disciplinary Committee, dispatching cases which, hitherto, took to a long time to adjudicate.
It is yet to be seen if he would take up another position within the Algeria Football Federation.
