Kenya’s squad to the 2016 COTIF Women’s Tournament in Spain has been released.
The team of 25; 22 players and three officials leaves for Valencia, Spain on Saturday 30.
Starlets who will later this year represent the country in Women’s Nations Cup in Cameroon have been camping at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani ahead of the tournament. On Thursday, they humbled visitig Olivet Nazarene University (USA) 8-0 with goals from; Avilia, Nafula, Akida, Kinuthia, Aquino, Nyongesa (2), Achieng).
This year’s tournament will feature six teams (two national teams and four football clubs) grouped into two groups.
Starlets is grouped together with Espanyol and Benfica.
Epsanyol finished ninth in the 2015/16 Spanish Women’s League season whereas Benfica finished the season with a double in the bag; the league and cup title.
Both Harambee Starlets and Benfica will be making their debut appearance at the tournament whereas Espanyol will be making their second consecutive appearance.
Kenya’s opener is on Sunday 31 July against the reigning Portuguese champions Benfica.
