The Kenya national team, Harambee Stars, has moved six places up in the latest Fifa rankings, leaving the country at position 125 in the world from position 131 they occupied last month.
Kenya’s move can be attributed to their Fifa World Cup Qualifier tie against Mauritius which they won 5-2 away before being held to a barren draw in Nairobi in the return leg.
Uganda are the top ranked East African nation at position 14 in Africa (CAF) and 68th in the world,followed by Rwanda at position 23 in CAF but the Amavubi dropping three places in their world rankings to 96th. Burundi moved up six places in the world to 107 (29 in CAF) while Ethiopia dropped down six places to world number 114 (33 in CAF).
Sudan were the worst movers of all the 207 teams going down 44 places to world number 128 (39 in Africa), while Tanzania are a position better at world number 135 (42 in CAF), a position below South Sudan.
African champions Cote d’Ivoire overthrown Algeria as the No. 1 team in Africa while Ghana, Cape Verde and Senegal complete the top 5 in Africa.
Meanwhile, Belgium are now the world’s best team, displacing Germany from the top.
