Rwandan football association (FERWAFA) has invited Harambee Stars of Kenya for the 2017 Genocide memorial tournament slated for 1st to 4th June.

Twelve other teams from across Africa have also landed the invite including Nigeria, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Conakry, Togo, Congo Brazaville, Libya, Gabon, Ethiopia, Liberia and Ghana.

“All participating teams will foot their expenses,” a statement from FERWAFA reads.

Kenya is yet to confirm participation, with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chief Executive Officer Robert Muthomi sounding doubtful.

“It is till up for discussion. We seem to have a packed schedule,” Muthomi told Soka25est.com.
Kenya graced the inaugural edition in 2015 alongside Tanzania and South Sudan.

The Genocide memorial tournament is held in commemoration of the football players, fans, administrators as well as individuals connected to local football in one way or the other, who were killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Rwanda will also use the tournament to prepare for their 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying match away to Central Africa Republic on 10th June in Bangue.
