Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Sports Dr Hassan Wario has confirmed that a management board will be set up to run the national team. Hon Wario was talking during Football Stakeholders meeting held today (Thursday) at Moi Sports Center Kasarani.
Stars is perennially bogged down by shoddy preparations ahead of crucial matches with claims of unpaid allowances being the order of the day and the committee will be tasked with ensuring the team have enough resources to prepare well for international assignments.
The CS again stated that the government is responsible for Stars and pays all their allowances or any other money they need.
Present during the consultative meeting includes all the seven FKF presidential candidates namely, Nick Mwendwa, Ambrose Rachier, Tom Alila, Sam Sholei among others. Conspicuously missing was the incumbent Sam Nyamweya who Hon. Wario said refused to show up despite an invite.
On the thorny issue of the forth coming federation polls, the CS was adamant that all aspirants must abide by the Sports Act 2013, adding that Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has refused to comply.
The meeting resolved that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should take over the elections.
