Harambee Stars vice-captain David “Calabar” Owino has pledged an improved outing in their second friendly against Central African Republic (CAR) in Marrakech, Morocco Tuesday.

The Kenya’s senior men’s national side was heavily criticized after struggling to hold lowly ranked Comoros to a 2-2 draw in the first warm-up in the North African country Sunday.

Buildcon striker Clifton Miheso saved coach Stanley Okumbi the blushes with a late strike to ensure the two sides shared the spoils.

Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama gave the Stars early first half lead from the post but two beautiful strikes from Comoros’ Youssouf M’Changama and Djamel Bakar left them battling to save face.

But Calabar believes they can build on the experience and pick a win against CAR.

“The game was okay except that we didn’t utilize our chances. But at least we have learnt from the experience and we will give our best on Tuesday to register a win,” the Zesco United defender said.

Miheso is grateful for the goal and he is looking to banging in some more in the national colors.

“I thank God I made a good finish. I hope I will score more goals if I get the chance; I also have my own targets.”

He was not happy with the Comoros outcome, “I wasn’t really satisfied because we should have won the game by a big margin if you saw the chances we missed but we are going to learn from that and we are going to win the next game.”

Miheso expects a “tough” match against CAR as there are no longer “small teams” in Africa.

Stars’ goalkeeper of the day Patrick Matasi was equally unhappy with the stalemate but he takes pride in assisting Miheso’s goal.

“I made good saves but I wasn’t satisfied with the goals we conceded which we shouldn’t have. I also assisted Miheso’s goal which I think was a good thing.”
