Uganda Cranes warm-up against the Harambee Stars of Kenya at Namboole Stadium on August 30 will be preceded by a tie between the U20s of both sides.
Cranes and Stars are preparing for the AFCON 2017 Qualifiers final lapse in September where Comoros and Zambia awaits respectively.
The juniors clash on the other hand is in line with Football Kenya Federation (FKF) vision of building for the future.
“We are going to play Uganda Cranes and the Uganda Hippos (U20) in an international double header,” FKF CEO Robert Muthomi confirmed.
“The Stars’ game will be in preparation for their AFCON qualifier against Zambia set for September 2,2016, while the U20 friendly will be in line with our vision of building for the future.” Muthomi added.
Uganda on ten points same to Burkina Faso in group “D” of the qualifiers will need to beat Comoros to stand a chance of making it to Gabon 2017 either as the group leaders or among the two best runner up finishers.
Kenya out of contention for a spot in the biggest football stage in Africa will depart for Lusaka on August 31 a day after the build up, for the battle for pride.
In another friendly between the two neighbors, Harambee Starlets will host Crescent Cranes on July 3 at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium.
Starlets getting ready for a first ever Women’s Nations Cup appearance in Cameroon in November will use the match as part of preparations for the tournament.
