Horoya AC snatched a 2-1 win over hosts AS Togo Port in their CAF Champions League Group C match at Stade Muncipal de Lome on Saturday.
The Dockers failed to capitalize on their early chances, lacking composure in front of the goal. They paid heavily on the 10th minute when Horoya’s midfielder Douda Camara slotted in from close range.
At the half hour mark, the home team should have netted an equalizer but a cross from the right went across the face of goal with danger man Ayi Abel missing a touch on it.
A purposeful Horoya surged forward and could have picked up the second easily but defender Alsney Camara headed wide from a corner.
The game went into the break with the visitors at an advantage but the second half saw the home side come in strongly in search of an equalizer.
That opportunity came, when in the 50th minute when Bourahana Issifou connected a well weighted pass by Xavier Kokou to cool the nerves of the home fans.
It look headed for a draw but Aboubacar Camara gave the game a different dimension when, in the 90th minute with virtually his first touch of the ball, got Horoya’s second on the day to hand the Guinenan champions group top spot.
