The coronavirus pandemic has brought many sporting activities to a sudden halt with football across the world suspended.
One of those competitions to be affected in Zambia is the 2020 Absa Cup which was promising to a exciting football festival before it was brought to a sudden stop.
The Football Associationa of Zambia has hinted in a post on its Facebook page that football in Zambia could be coming back soon.
“Prior to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) suspending all football activities as a result of the covid-19 crisis, the football family had been warming up to a potentially explosive ABSA Cup quarterfinal show,” read the post.
“It was in every respect promising to be an unforgettable football fest with Nkana pitted with Kitwe United in what could be a convergence of two clubs with some of the most passionate fans in the game while another had set the bragging rights of Ndola in the limelight with Forest Rangers taking on record winners Zesco United. Green Eagles were also set to fight for military honour with their sister club Young Green Eagles with Napsa Stars battling with Kabwe Warriors.
“Two months down the line the football community is still yearning for the return of the beautiful game.
“With football slowly making a comeback across the globe, there is some shed of light that the game may return soon.”
The post further adds that the FAZ media department will keep all the stakeholders abreast on the development on the local front.
