Cameroon head coach Hugo Broos has laid the blame solely on his charges after bowing out of contention for the Confederations Cup in Russia.
The Indomitable Lions lost their opening game aganist South American Champions Chile 2-0,drew 1-1 aganist Socceroos of Australia and lost 3-1 to Germany second string side to march out of the Confederations Cup.
In a rare interview with Cameroonian Press after the elimination, Broos blamed some of his players for failing to live to the billing. They were carried away by attitude and behaved “differently” since thay are champions of Africa.
“The group was not like it was in Gabon. I always tell players that glory is hard to bear. Once you win something, there are players who start behaving differently.
“I noticed it during this Confederations Cup. No one complained because he was sitting on the bench at the AfCON. Now there are some players who have started to complain, “Hugo Broos said in an interview with Cameroon Tribune.
Broos promises to crack that kind of behaviour down by talking to his players about the task ahead.
“We will see next time what I will do, because I do not accept this kind of behavior. Again, it is not because we won the AfCON that we’ve arrived. The journey is just beginning, it is not yet the destination. And that, everyone has to be aware of that” he added.
With the setback, Broos stated that their focus has shifted to chasing the 2018 Russia World Cup ticket and Africa Cup of Nations tittle defence at home soil.
