Ghana Captain Asamoah Gyan says he has nothing but fond memories of South Africa.

Speaking ahead of today’s International friendly with South Africa Gyan says coming to South Africa feels like home.

“We feel at home every time we come to South Africa. After the World Cup in 2010, we came back to play a friendly we lost 1-0 but the fans were amazing. The reception from the Airport, even when at the hotel the warm reception is amazing so every time we come here we feel at.

“I would like to tell the South Africans we do appreciate their support and we are not going to let them down. Every time we go to competitions a lot of African countries support Ghana and we also support them especially in the World Cup.”

And Gyan says the disappointment of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the Luis Suarez handball still haunts him but it has made him a strong man.

“Yeah coming to South  Africa it reminds of that but not even coming to South Africa, Its been haunting me like once in a while but it has made me a strong man and life goes on. I just wanna come here and do what i do best and play”

Meanwhile, the Ghana skipper also talked about Ghana’s exploits in the World Cup Qualifiers.

“It was a bit disappointing to draw our first game against Uganda. They came with a mentality to draw, they defended well. We had chances to score but we could. There are 5 games to go we will see what happens.” He said
