Chipolopolo midfielder Chisamba Lungu has revealed that he has not quit the Zambia National Team.
Lungu posted on his official Facebook account today that he has not retired from the National Team.
“Take it from me, I have not retired. Zambia is bigger than me, Always at heart Chipolopolo,” Lungu wrote.
The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winner was quoted in the Zambian press that he had decided to quit the National Team after he was left on the bench in Chipolopolo’s defeat to Guinea Bissau.
The player had expressed frustration at the decision by the coach to keep benching him.
Lungu who plies his trade with Russian side FC Ural Sverdlovsk Oblast said it was disappointing with being subjected to the bench and that Lwandamina did not bother to explain to him why he was not used.
Lungu’s announcement to clear his position will come as a relief to many of his adoring fans.
