FC Minneapolis, have confirmed they will play Uganda Cranes in a friendly match during the Spring FIFA International Break of 2018 at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Nambolee on Sunday 18th March.
Always popular in that part of the world, it will be the American non-league club’s first trip to Africa and already letters between the club,the Federations of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and Uganda’s head coach Multin Sredojevic, show the terms of the match have been agreed to.
Confirming the friendly, Ugandan born Sedi who serves as player-manager for the outfit thanked Uganda federation for accepting to play his team back in his home country.
“I thank the federation…and the Uganda Cranes technical team for agreeing to our request…When i first tool up this job,I commited my administratiom to turn our club into a global brand and this game with my country’s national team brings us closer to that ambitio,”said Sendi in a brief statement.
Mineapolis will be expected to touch down at Entebbe International Airport on March 13th before heading to their training camp where they will reside until gameday before returning to the United States on Tuesday, March 20th.
The Cranes are ranked number 71 in the world by FIFA. They are currently sitting in second place in their group for 2018 World Cup qualification, two points from a position that would mean a trip to Russia next summer.
