Uganda coach Milutin “Micho” Ssredojevic has thrown caution in the air over his future as Cranes’ boss but has maintained he is still in charge.
Micho is categorical Federation of Ugandan Football Association has not paid his salary for months now rendering his contract null and void. This gives him freedom to walkout anytime.
The Serbian, famed for breaking a 39-year jinx to qualify the Cranes for the 2017 AFCON, added that he will call a press conference Monday to “announce what to do.”
“Due to nonpayment of salary, my contract with Uganda is null and void practically, hence I have the chance to go wherever I want,” Micho, a former Rwanda coach told Soka25east.com.
A number of news outlets in the country had announced his resignation; however, FUFA and Micho have since dismissed the rumors.
The twist and turns hit the online sphere moments after he guided Cranes to qualification to the last round of the 2018 Kenya CHAN with a 5-1 win over South Sudan in Kampala.
“Mr. Sredojevic hasn’t forwarded any communication to FUFA about rumors that he has resigned his post as National team coach of Uganda Cranes,” FUFA said in statement.
They added: “However, in the meeting on Monday, FUFA will find out officially from Mr. Sredojevic his position on the rumors and his future as Uganda Cranes coach.”
Micho’s profile has risen after guiding Uganda to the historic 2017 AFON qualification and has attracted interests from many quarters.
He has lately been linked with a return to Orlando Pirates in the ABSA Premiership in South Africa.
