Azam FC of Tanzania produced a virtuoso performance against visiting Esperance of Tunisia coming from a goal down to beat the visitors 2-1 at the Chamanzi stadium in Dar Es Salaam in a CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Esperance broke the deadlock when Haythem Jouini scored in the 34^th minute beating keeper Aishi Manula with a beautiful shot to give the visitors a 0-1 advantage.

The game went to the break with Esperance still leading but upon resumption Azam coach Stewart Hall effected changes bringing on Frank Domayo for Kipre Bolou .In the 48^th minute John Bocco missed a clear chance when his header went off target as Esperance keeper Moez Chefifia was yellow carded for time wasting.

Despite being a goal down Azam continued pilling pressure which paid off handsomely in the 68^th minute when Ferid Moussa equalized to make the scores 1-1.

Ramadhan Sigano aka Messi  added the second goal two minutes later as the Esperance defence was caught napping as Azam went ahead 2-1.

In the 89^th minute Azam suffered a setback when dependable defender Pascal Wawa was injured forcing coach Stewart to replace him with David Mwantika but the Tanzanians held on to the famous win.

The second-leg game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19 in El Menzah.
