Red Arrows march on, reaching five games still in retention of not losing any game though not 100 per cent record because of that draw against Napsa Stars is a good run.
It was a good game against Green Buffaloes . The delight from their Coach Chisi Mbewe as James Chamanga stroked the ball home was the very definition of what relief sounds like. You could tell from were I was standing that this team has belief and they won’t easily lose games this season.
If winning four games and one draw in a row is easy, people would do it all the time. It isn’t easy and this is why we shouldn’t forget what Chisi Mbewe is doing. Its good development.
For Green Buffaloes to concede at the time they thought they had it covered and were playing well was difficult to take. People I was watching with thought they deserved something, especially in the first half. But this is called football , after the game the good play is forgotten with the number of goals scored.
Green Buffaloes had flattered to deceive when they hosted Lusaka Dynamos winning 2-0 in week four. That result gave this tone an interesting game to look out for here. But here was a chance for Bilton to remind Red Arrows fans that it was too early to celebrate, but after the game ,Arrows fans will still think their Arrow is good enough to brig dosb the Buffaloe.
Chisi missed out on the crown on Coach of the year, he also missed out on CAF slot on goal difference and for all his self-satisfaction, he has clearly had an effect on this Red Arrows side. Bereft of confidence and lacking in adventure under Honor Janza, they now look organised, coherent, fluent. Particularly at the back.
In Ian Otieno, they boast the second best pair of hands in the Super League after Naspsa Stars Goal keeper having only conceded one goal so far this season. For another 90 minutes , this goal keeper has again kept a clean sheet and the call to his National team in Kenya doesn’t come as a surprise with this perfomance.
But get me right, this Green Buffaloes team were not going to be easily brushed aside. Throughout the second half, they kept pushing, kept probing, kept trying. But Red Arrows seem not to have a fear factor this season and that keeps them going – it is working well so far.
Yes game five is done and Red Arrows are still unbeaten. Is this their season? Too early to say, but indications are positive .
Can they break into the top four and qualify into CAF competition? With evidence seen in the first five games, you wouldn’t be shot at if you believed they have shown great potential. The development is clear to see.
And that’s how we walked into international break … Let’s see what Arrows bring after that break.
