Ismaila Sarr, the Stade Rennes midfielder,has revealed he hopes to return to action before the end of this month,and then play for Senegal at the World Cup.

The midfielder, whose time at Roazhon Park has been blighted by injuries has been sidelined for almost two months after suffering knee ligament damage in September.He is currently in France working for his fitness, and said that he was always confident of playing again.

“It was the first time i was using crutches and at the beggining it was complicated to use them.I did with it for six weeks.Now,i can finally feel physically there is something diffrent.

“I still fell some pain.Today i walk normally.The workout in the pool does a lot of good.The next step is to take a race.My injury is moving towards complete healing.The path is long before i return to the pitch,”said Sarr in an interview with Staderennais.com on Friday.

Before the injury,Sarr had been a regular in the Senegalese national team.He had scored a goal aganist Burkina Faso in a two all draw during the fourth match day of the qualifiers of the 2018 World Cup.

“It gives me energy to play in the biggest international competitions and is my dream to earn my place back and play in the World Cup.

“I am eagerly waiting for the World Cup draw and i hope we will find ourselves in a fair group though i am not scared of facing Portugal,Brazil or France,”Sarr concludes.
