Ghanaian international and Pescara midfielder Sulley Muntari has been handed a reprieve after the Italian football association rescinded a decision made by Serie A’s disciplinary committee to hand him a one match ban following his racism protest.
The 32 year old former Sunderland man was shown a first yellow card at Cagliari for protesting to the referee about the racism chants and earned a second yellow card for walking off the fields without permission.
The two cards automatically rulled him out of this Sundays Serie A clash against Crotone but following a global out cry and a possible Serie A players boycott the Italian football federation’s appeal court decided to lift the suspension.
Following the ruling, the former AC Milan midfielder will be available for selection against Crotone on Sunday.
