Its official Cameroon have been stripped of hosting next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, says the Confederation of African Football.

The decision was arrived at on Friday after a CAF Executive Committee marathon meeting that unanimously voted to strip Cameroon the rights  because of delays in the progress of Cameroon’s preparation for the tournament, due to start in June 2019 just six months away.

Officials made the decision at a meeting on Friday in Accra, Ghana, that lasted more than 10 hours.

Inspections reports from Cameroon have come back negative and this necessitated the decision that shocked Cameroon who had put up massive investments in trying to ensure the tournament was held in the country.

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad said that countries wishing to bid have only a month to do so by the end of December when the official host will be announced.
