Ivory Coast Women’s National team decimated Niger 11-0 to advance to the second round of the qualifiers for the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2022.
Entering for the first time into a qualifying series, the Nigeriens endured a 9-0 first leg humiliation at Stade Général Seyni Kountché, Niamey five days ago.
During the second leg at Stade Robert Champroux in Abidjan, a brace each from Fatou Coulibaly, Rebecca Guehai, and Ines Affri plus Rosemonde Kouassi’s treble and Jessica Aby saw the hosts complete a double, with a 20-0 aggregate triumph.
The Ivorians are eyeing a third ever appearance in the WAFCON finals and return to the showpiece for the first time since Namibia 2014.
To achieve this, they must eliminate African champions Nigeria, who they knocked out of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers in the second round battle.
