Jacob “Ghost” Mulee is the new head coach of the national football team Harambee Stars, for the next three years. His comeback was announced by FKF president Nick Mwendwa at the Safari Park Hotel on Wednesday.
He succeeds Francis Kimanzi, who was relieved of his duties on Tuesday for unspecified reasons. His immediate assignment is to prepare Harambee Stars for the upcoming AFCON 2022 qualifying match against Comoros in November. Also, he is expected to successfully lead Kenya to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.
Ghost, 52, has not worked at the top flight level for a decade, when he last held this exact role. .
He’s fondly remembered for taking Stars to the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia..
He has also coached Kenyan Premier League side Tusker with whom he won three Kenyan Premier League titles between 1999 and 2009. Also, Rwanda’s APR and Yanga SC of Tanzania are part of his portfolio.
