Tanzania Football Federation President Jamal Malinzi has wished the federation well ahead of August elections, according Swahili Times.

Jamal, who was yesterday remanded in custody till 13th July pending further probe into alleged embezzlement of the federation’s funds, has pledged to work with his successor.

“TFF President Jamal Malinzi has the wished the federation well in the coming elections – pledging to work with whoever will win,” Swahili Times tweeted.

Alongside other TFF officials, Jamal is accused of 28 counts of corruption, among others fraudulently allocating Tanzania Brewers’ sponsorship money for personal use.

The deadline for submitting nomination papers for various national posts including the office of the president 1st July will find Jamal still in remand and will not be able to fill his papers.

Jamal, who succeeded Leodegar Tenga in October 2013 had indicated he would go for a second term.

Former Tanzania international Ally Mayay Tembele is touted as the front runner in the race to succeed Malinzi.
