Zesco United broke the worrying four-match winless streak with a 2-0 triumph away to Nchanga Rangers in the Zambian Super League on Wednesday at Nchanga Stadium.
Two first half goals from John Chingandu and Kenyan sensation Jesse Jackson Were secured the three points to the relief of the Zega family.
The Coach George Lwandamina’s side displaces Zanaco from the second spot on the table standings with twenty one points, two off leaders Nkana FC who beat mighty Mufulira Wonderers 2-1. Zanaco were held to a barren draw at home by Napsa Stars.
Chingandu rose high to head in the first goal for Zesco with just ten minutes played to settle their nerves. Bouyed by the goal, “Team Ya Ziko” engaged a high gear with their characteristic free passing game entertaining their traveling fans who enjoyed every bit of the action.
Jesse doubled the lead three minutes after the half hour mark – his tenth goal in ten league matches. Attempts by the home team to get back into the game were thwarted by resolute defending from Zesco who gave them no chance infront of goal, as the second stanza produced no further goals.
Zesco hosts Zanaco on Saturday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium as the super league hots up.
