Zesco United forward Jesse Jackson Were and Midfielder Mischeck Chaila have described reports linking them with moves away from Zesco United as mere speculation. Both men indicted that they are happy and focused on playing for the Ndola based out-fit in an interview after Tuesday morning training

Were stated that he only found out through the media that he was linked with a move to either Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga) of Tanzania or TP Mazembe of Congo DR.

Jesse Were’s agent George Bwana told Soka25east.com on Monday that the former Tusker captain would leave Zesco United if any club met the $150,000.00 transfer fee and a monthly salary of $4700.00.

“What I can say about Yanga is that they haven’t approached me. I have only read what the media has written. It is all speculation because at the moment I am a Zesco player; I am under contract and I am happy here. I am focused on playing the remaining games and to see off my contract till the end of next season,” Were said.

“The speculation hasn’t disturbed my play. No club has approached Zesco so as far as I am concerned there is nothing. If they are really serious they can talk to my club and they can
agree. I am just a player and my job is to concentrate on my game.

“I would like to tell Zesco United fans that I am still here. I will honour my contract till it ends. I am focused on the game against Kabwe Warriors tomorrow [today]. All of us are focused on the game tomorrow [today]. On Saturday we will be playing in the Barclays Cup final; hopefully things will be great and we will win,” said Were.

Misheck Chaila who has also been linked with a move to Yanga dismissed the reports as rumours made up by the media.

“I have no comment to make on the speculation because no one approached me and as you can
see I am still a Zesco United player. I still have a one year running contract with Zesco United.

“The media can say anything but as of now there is no club which has approached me or Zesco United.”

Both Were and Chaila’s contracts with Zesco United end on 31st December, 2017.
