Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Simba SC have completed the signing of Kenya international Joash Onyango from Gor Mahia.
Moments after arriving in Dar es Salaam, the former Gor Mahia center back Kenyan international Joash Onyango has signed a two-year contract with the Mainland champions.
Onyango who can also play on the anks joins Pascal Wawa, Erasto Nyoni and Kennedy Juma in strengthening the back line.
The 27-year old versatile defender becomes the third player from Kenyan champions Gor Mahia and links up with former teammates Medie Kagere and Francis Kahata.
The defence has been one of the key areas which Simba were looking to be strength ahead of next season.
“We have placed on our shoulders great targets of going far in the Caf Champions League as well as good performances in the domestic competitions,” Simba, who have so far signed Bernard Morrison from arch-rivals Yanga SC, said as they confirmed Onyango’s signing.
“For that reason, the club must sign good and dependable defenders and ones who are experienced in featuring in big games.
“Therefore Kenya international [Joash] Onyango has landed at Msimbazi.”
Onyango is expected to be part of the Wekundu wa Msimbazi contingent that will represent Tanzania in the Caf Champions League next season.
