Kenya’s Harambee Stars have moved a whopping 43 places to position 86 in the latest FIFA World Ranking released on Thursday.
Neighbors Uganda have also climbled up three places to 69th and are still be best ranked team in the East African region.
The envious rise for the Coach Stanley Okumbi’s side is certainly due to the big kill against highly rated and ranked Congo Brazzaville in June.
Stars slayed the Red Devils 2-1 at Kasarani Stadium in their penultimate AFCON 2017 Qualifiers group “E” match last month.
Previously they played to identical 1-1 draw against Tanzania and Sudan in international warm-ups.
Uganda Cranes on the other side have remained the most consistent team in the region and remain on course to AFCON 2017 in 39 years and World Cup 2018 in Russia.
The “Micho” men beat Botswana 2-1 in their second last qualifier away in the same month.
Tanzania and Burundi have all gained 13 and 7 steps respectively and are tied at position 123.
Rwanda lost ground to 111th, eight places down.
Algeria remains the best ranked team in Africa at position 31 followed by Ivory Coast (35), Ghana (36) and Senegal ( 41).
Argentina is the best team in the world followed by Belgium and Colombia in that order.
