JUST IN: CAF postpones General Assembly amid Coronavirus outbreak

The Confederation of African Football CAF has postponed it’s forth coming General Assembly in Cameroon due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The General Assembly was due to take place next month but CAF have decided to postpone the event to a later date to be communicated.

In a statement released on Tuesday, 17 March, 2020, CAF states that, “Following the growing concern of the Covid-19 and the report of the recently conluded medical inspection visit to Cameroon it was established that travelling across the continent is getting increasingly complicated and even impossible for some countries due to the restrictions put in place by different governments.

“Even though the situation is considered as being under control in Cameroon and as per advice from the World Health Organization, the crisis in Africa is not yet stabilized and is very difficult to predict it’s evolution in the next few days, ” read the statement in part.

The Emergency Committee of CAF has decided it was necessary to postpone the planned Executive Committee and 42nd General Assembly initially scheduled on the 24th April 2020 in Cameroon.

CAF said the dates will be communicated to its members and will continue to monitor the situation
