Just In KPL :Elly Asieche leaving Sofapaka for more playing time

By Samuel Gacharira,

Sofapaka’s title credentials will certainly be dealt a major blow with a massive exodus of players expected during the June transfer window.

The latest player to express his desire to leave the club is midfielder Elly Asieche who joined the club in December 2010.

“It’s the right time to leave for something new” read a post on his Facebook account confirming the development.

The player told Soka25east he was not happy playing the sub’s role as it was curtailing his growth “i want to have more playing time as a young footballer i also have dreams of playing in the national team but that cannot be achieved because the coach has prefered to use me as a sub”he said

Asieche has played a bit part role only starting five out of fourteen matches played so far in the league. Coach Sam Timbe has preferred using him as a substitute but it seems the soft spoken Ofafa Jericho High School alumni has had enough and does not see his future with Batoto Ba Mungu..

The player who has featured for the Harambee Stars at junior level has six months remaining on his current contract but sources close to Soka25east.com have it that a mutual agreement has been reached such that the club settles his salary arears by buying out his contract thus making him a free agent.

However club president Elly Kalekwa has insisted that they are ready to do business provided the right channels are followed. “The player should benefit as well as the club, so as the transfer period takes shape, a number of clubs want our players and we will not block any move as long as the correct standards are observed”.

Tusker coach Francis Kimanzi is a strong admirer of Asieche having worked with him previously at Sofapaka and is expected to be lead the hunt for his signature.

“Maybe. It is a good team” Asieche replied on his Facebook post when a fan suggested that he might be joining the brewers.
