Kabwe Warriors battled to a nill nill draw with Prison Leopards in a FAZ Divison One South fixture played at Prisons Training School ground this afternoon.
Typical of a local derby the match was characterised by strong tackling from both sides. Chances were few and far in between but it was Warriors who were more incisive in play with combinations of Lameck Kafwaya and Idris Mbombo while Prison Leopards were also not intimidated by the strength of the Warriors team.
Musonda Mweuke was a constant threat for Leopards but Warriors delt with him easily leaving him frustrated. Marcel Kasongo was outstanding as he led from the back.
Idris Mbombo nearly put Warriors ahead in the 20th minute but his shot was deflected off the Keeper.
The first half ended with an an opportunity for Jacob Phiri who was through clear on goal but he skied his shot.
Mbombo nearly put Warriors ahead in the second half but his volley crept past the post. January Zhyambo, another ex player at Warriors nearly punished his former team, however his effort went into the crowd.
Both teams happy to settle for a point.
