Kaizer Chiefs were the last team to book their place in the semi-finals of this season’s Nedbank Cup.
Goals from Hendrick Ekstein and Dumisani Zuma spearheaded the Amakhosi to a 2-0 win over Cape Town City at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Sunday.
Chiefs were the better team from start to finish against a Citizens outfit who were unable to find any real rhythm.
Ernest Middendorp’s men will next face Chippa United in the semi’s. The Chilli Boys booked a final four berth with a thrilling penalty shoot-out win over Bidvest Wits on Saturday evening.
The game was locked at 4-4 after 120 minutes of football in Braamfontein, before Chippa emerged victorious from the spot.
Earlier, Golden Arrows edged fellow Absa Premiership club Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 thanks to a late Knox Mutizwa goal. The KZN outfit will face National First Division side TS Galaxy for a place in the final.
The draw keeps alive a possible showdown between Chiefs former coach, Steve Komphela, and the Amakhosi in the final. Komphela was sacked following a semi-final defeat to Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup last year.
