Kekamaga Homeboyz striker Jeremiah Wanjala is the Kenyan Premier League player of month for September.

With two goals and three assists in the month, the 25-year-old was voted the best in the initial shortlist of seven with nineteen votes from the panel of selectors.

Gor Mahia’s Ugandan-born-Rwandan forward Meddie Kagere was second with fifteen points followed by Kariobangi Sharks’ Kenyan international striker Masoud Juma, who received thirteen votes.

Wanjala have a total of seven goals this season, while Kegare boasts 12. Masoud is currently the leading top scorer in the league with 17 points and is poised to bag the golden boot.

Wanjala said: “I would like to score freely like Masoud and someday top the scoring charts. All the same I’m impressed with what I have done as an individual and what we have collectively achieved as a team.”

Homeboyz are placed 6th in the KPL standings – one round to the end of the season.
For his sweat, Wanjala won himself a 49” inch television form LG, Kshs 100,000 and Kshs 50,000 for his teammates.

He becomes the sixth player to bag the monthly award after Brian Omondi (Nzoia Sugar), Stephen Waruru (Ulinzi Stars), Ernest Wendo and George Odhiambo (Gor Mahia) and Michael Modoya (Zoo FC).
