KALENGO LEAVES ZESCO UNITED AND FANS NOT HAPPY
It was to happen and it comes at a time Zesco is struggling to settle out the deal of the Young Player of the year in Conlyde Luchanga.
Which ever way you look at it, this is a big blow for Zesco United who are looking at strengthening the team with sight set on CAF Champions League and as well as defending the League Title. The other objective of the 2015 champions in the coming year is to get the Barclays Cup. But am sure Fans and management of Zesco United will give Winstone a great send off due to the immerse contribution he gave the team in the 2015 season. He will remain one of the great players of Zesco team.
It’s official, Winstone Kalengo , the Top scorer , the player of the season and the most disciplined player of the 2015 season has left Zesco United for AC Leopards of Congo Brazzaville on a one year deal.
This is both a derailment for Zesco and National team preparing for the RWANDA 2016 CHAN tournament. Winstone is definitely out of the tournament as the season in Congo Brazzaville opens on 7th and Winstone now needs to take part in that country’s pre season activities with his new employers.
A look at Social media in Zambia will give you an indication that most of the fans are not happy with the choice of his destination but am sure Winstone weighed a number of options and realised AC LEOPARDS was the best of the other options available .
Winston Kalengo was born on 29 August 1985 and his football career is well remembered as a Zanaco player where he played from 2004 to 2011. With Zanaco Winstone win the League three times before joining Zesco United in 2011 where he has won two Super League titles and one Barclays Cup.
WHAT NEXT FOR ZESCO UNITED?
ZESCO UNITED now have no choice but to splash the funds and get Conlyde Luchanga and still get into the market for another striker especially with the busy schedule that the club will have in the coming season.
Zesco already have the Congolese Iddriss Mbombo , a striker signed from Kabwe Warriors but losing Winstone kalengo with his exploits of 2015 is considerably like losing two players.

Zambian players with their transfers, awe kuti walila, is AC Leopards better than Zesco Utd. This is like adding a zero to a number or multiplying any number by 1. I miss the days when we had players in Switzerland, Argentina, Holland, Belgium, Russia, Greece, Portugal, Germany, Czech. etc. the worst places our players went to was Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia RSA & Finland. But today it’s like our players are explorers, discovering unknown leagues, like Indian, Iranian, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Kuwait, China, Gabon, Thailand, & now Malaysia & Congo Brazzaville.
