African football icon Kalusha Bwalya has been appointed as Chairman of the Technical and Development committee of CAF. The former FAZ President was appointed at the first Executive Committee meeting since the elective General Assembly of 16 March 2017 which ushered in Ahmad as president in Manama, Bahrain.
The 1988 African footballer of the year thanked CAF president Ahmad Ahmad and the Executive committee for the opportunity and says he is ready for the challenge.
” This role will allow us to guide the future of the game in Africa for the better. I am up for the challenge. Thanks to President of CAF Ahmed & Exco Members for believing in me,” The former FAZ boss posted on his facebook page.
In other appointments, The CAF Executive Committee named the President of Ghana FA, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi as 1stVice President, with his DR Congo opposite number, Omari Constant Selemani, named as the 2nd Vice President.
Nigerian Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick was named President of the Organising committee of the African cup of nations while South African Football Association boss President, Dr. Danny Jordaan was named chairman of the Marketing and TV Committee.
Sierra Leone FA boss, Isha Johansen, The only female FA boss has been tasked with the responsibility of heading the Women’s Football Committee.
President of Uganda FA, Moses Magogo was co-opted into the CAF Executive Committee for 2017-2021 cycle.
In a poll for the remaining African member of the FIFA Council, Hani Abo Rida of Egypt defeated former Cameroonian FIFA Development Officer Zelkifli Ngoufonja by 50 votes to 4.
