The International Federation of Football History and Statistics unleashes phase one of the cream dera cream football legends across the globe.On the list is 48 players including Brazilian legends Pelle and Ronaldo.
The 1996 World player of the year Gorge Weah,recently dethroned as Africa’s top scorer at FIFA World Cup Roger Milla,Algeria’s Rabah Medjer,Al ahly legend Muhammed Aboutrika,Mohmoud El-Khatub from Egypt,Nwanko Kanu of Nigeria and former Bafana Bafana Captain Lucas Radebe are the only Africans on the list.
Kalusha Bwalya remains the only player from COSAFA to have won the African player of the year accolade.The scorer of the famous hatrick against Italy at the 1988 Olympic games in Seoul was named as 1986 African player of the year by the French magazine.To our dismay,the IFFHS turned a blind eye at the most decorated football legendary in Southern Africa.
The IFFHS was formed in 1984 under FIFA’s approval and it focuses on archiving football records,statistics and records of associations across the globe.
