Kenya Commercial Bank registered a comfortable 3-0 victory over Muhoroni Youth FC in a Tusker Premier League match played at MISC – Kasarani on Saturday 30th May 2015.
Two first half goals from Chrispinus Onyango and Yusuf Juma and a third from Kiongera Paul in the second half put the visitors to the sword as the bankers recorded their third victory of the season.
Muhoroni Youth were deservedly punished for lacklustre defending in opening half and their fate looked sealed barely 10 minutes after the restart when Peter Okore and Wellington Ochieng were sent off, each for second bookable offenses.
While the millers’ backline fumbled early, Kiongera twice failed to register the bankers’ intent with an early goal.
In the first instance, the striker was set up inside the box by Ronald Musana in the 9th minute but he failed to snap a first time attempt in a one on one situation with Muhoroni Youth goalkeeper Daniel Kiptoo, allowing the visiting defenders time to rcover and though he managed to turn the ball onto his lefr foot, his shot caused little trouble for Kiptoo.
Notikelly Masasi nearly served punishment on the opposite goal but his shot drifted wide of the left upright with goalkeepeer Zachary Onyango well beaten after the youngster had gotten past defender Mark Odhiambo.
But it was Kiongera who seemed to have put the bankers ahead in this tie after latching on a long ball from the midfied only to be denied by the post.
The homeside kept pressing forward and their efforts paid off in the 32nd minute courtesy of Chrispinus Onyango. The Muhoroni Youth midfield was sitting loose allowing a through ball forward and Onyango was escorted by three defenders to the goal with none making an attempt to stop him and he fired home past a helpless Kiptoo.
Another poor defensive lapse saw Yusuf Juma double KCB’s lead after Victor Majid had delivered long from a set piece at the stroke of halftime.
Any plans by the visitors rally back in the second half were washed away within 10 minutes after restart with two sending offs in two minutes.
Peter Okore was handed his marching orders in the 54th minute after a late tackle on Yusuf Juma earned him a second booking and two minutes later, Wellington Ochieng was sent marching for intentional handling that logged his second yellow card.
With numerical disadvantage working against their opponents, Bethwel Warambo found space down the right channel and set up Kiongera at the edge of the box and the finish, a rising shot into the top left corner, was a beauty.
The victory lifts KCB to 12th place on the KPL log with 13 points and Muhoroni Youth take the 14th slot with 11 points.
