The FUFA President Engineer Moses Magogo has required the Coaches and Technical Team of the Uganda Cranes to rest KCC FC players who had been selected in the 25 man squad for the International friendly with Zambia due on Wednesday 5th March, 2014 in Ndola.
FUFA believes that the latest development will help in a bid to boost the organizational and logistical preparations of KCC FC ahead of the return leg of the first round of the CAF Champions League match against Zambia’s Nkana red Devils.
However KCC FC players will still be considered for selection in future for international engagements.
‘KCC FC is representing Uganda and considering that they were stretched playing 10 men for the long period, it must have taken toll on the players to deserve a better rest for the return game. In solidarity and support of KCC FC, let us use other players’ said Magogo
KCC FC drew 2-2 with Nkana Red Devils in a game that saw midfielder Tom Masiko shown marching orders.
The technical team will now look at other players minus KCC’s trio Brian Majwega, Ivan Ntege and Tony Odur who had been named in the initial Uganda Cranes squad.
Others who missed the trip include Gor Mahia left back Geoffrey Walusimbi and Portugal based duo Alex Kakuba and William Kizito Luwagga.
The final 18 man squad:
Goalkeepers: Denis Onyango, Robert Odongkara
Defenders: Denis Iguma, N. Wadada, Isaac Muleme, Henry Kalungi, Isaac Isinde, Andrew Mwesigwa (captain), Richard Kasagga and Joseph Ochaya.
Midfielders: Tony Mawejje, Khalid Aucho, Geoffrey Kizito, Moses Oloya and Sula Matovu.
Strikers: Geoffrey Massa, Emmanuel Okwi, Hamis Kiiza and Dan Serunkuma.
