Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC head coach Mike Hillary Mutebi is ecstatic after guiding the team to the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup triumph.
The Ugandan club clinched the title after defeating holders Azam FC of Tanzania in the final on Sunday.
Defender Musitafa Kiiza scored the only goal of the game to hand KCCA FC their second regional title.
Mutebi praised his charges after they delivered KCCA’s first CECAFA title since 1978.
“They (players) came here with belief that they wanted to win this tournament and indeed they fulfilled their promise,” Mutebi said on Kawowo Sports.
“The performance was generally better in terms of how we are supposed to play, in terms of confidence, playing away.
“And how they consumed the pressure from the opposition was outstanding and bottom line I think they had a good tournament.”
Zambian side Green Eagles finished third after defeating AS Maniema Union of DR Congo in the third-place play-off match.
The tournament was hosted by Rwanda.
